Two different cornrow styles
What I love most about cornrow hairstyles is the diversity of all the different cornrow styles you can choose from. Depending on how you are feeling and what you happen to be doing that weekend, you can go from a simple look to an all out crazy party type design.
Getting your hair twisted can take a very, very long time and thats why I chose to go with the simple styles most of the time. On special occasions however, I will spend the time and money on a more advanced cornrow hairstyle.
Basic straight back cornrow styles
This type of style is the perfect style if you feeling laid back or just chillin type of mood. The style is a very basic style that braids the hair from the front part of the head and straight to the back. This is the type of style that also look good with a suit. It”s almost like a school boy look. Pictured below is a picture of a basic cornrow styles. Although it is not the classic straight back design its still basic.
Advanced Cornrow styles
An advanced cornrow design is for those that are more edgy. People who go through the hassle of spending all that time and money for an advanced style or more likely to be the type that likes to show off. Some might even classify it as a bad boy look. Some of the NBA stars that like to get advanced style braids tend to be more of the flashy type of players. Pictured below is a classic image of Iverson who was always known to rock advanced cornrow styles. He even had his stylist travel with him!

As you can see, both cornrow styles are dope and gives you different looks even though a lot of the different cornrow hairstyles are similar. It’s all about, what you are doing, where you are going and how you are feeling.
The only way to know which style you like the best or look your best in is to try out a lot of the different cornrow styles and experiment with different outfits. The problem with getting your hair twisted is that it can cost a lot of money and if you don’t like it, you’d be a fool to take it out lol. So make sure you are comfortable enough to rock something different or else you will be wasting a lot of money or worse yet time.
Another good tip is to make sure you find yourself a very good hair stylist that can braid very good. Also, hair is very delicate and if you are not used to taking proper care of your hair, you can easily damage it or worse yet, start to lose hair! This ain’t no game! It takes work to look fresh and if you a lazy bum, this is not the style for you haha.
Make sure you take out your braids and let your hair breathe once in awhile. Especially if you suspect that your hair is getting damaged.
